Boatman

As a Boatman, you'll be responsible for sea (and occasionally land/ice) transport, maintaining Sjöfartsverket's property and equipment, and taking part in sea rescue missions (with special additional training provided). Operations run 24/7, year-round, so day, evening, and night shifts apply per schedule. The pilot boat is crewed by two Boatmen — one captain, one mate/deckhand. Mate role requires at minimum Ship's Officer Class VII certification plus internal training; Captain role requires at minimum Class VI plus internal training.

• Ship's Officer Class VII certification minimum (not limited to inland waters)
• Engine Officer Class VIII qualification minimum
• Basic Safety certificate
• ROC certificate minimum
• Seafarer's medical certificate (unlimited deck service)
• Driver's license B (manual transmission)
• Good Swedish and English, spoken and written
• Comfortable working with maintenance systems
• Good technical service and maintenance skills
• Nice to have: experience piloting smaller vessels (~10-40m), Ship's Officer Class VI.
