Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Tools & Systems
About the role
Support Firefox engineering by building and operating internal engineering systems, developer tooling, and automation. Design, build, deploy, and operate software and systems that support Firefox engineering. Contribute to developer tooling, CI/CD, workflow automation, and AI-assisted development tools. Own complex technical problems end to end, improving reliability, performance, observability, and cost efficiency. Work with Firefox engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and other teams across organisational boundaries. Use telemetry, metrics, and data to investigate problems and guide decisions. Help set architecture and technical strategy, and spot patterns that can be reused across teams.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering skills and substantial experience running production systems
- Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; C++ or Rust is useful
- Experience building and operating cloud systems, including infrastructure as code such as Terraform
- Experience in several areas such as CI/CD, containers and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tooling
- Experience using data and telemetry to diagnose problems
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and their limits
- Comfortable jumping into unfamiliar systems and making them sustainable
